Colorado Bend Energy Center

Strategically located in Wharton, Texas (near the Houston load center), Navasota Energy's Colorado Bend Energy Center (CBEC) is an 825 MW natural gas combined-cycle production facility with 550 MW currently in full operation. The development and construction of CBEC has been carefully staged in nominal 275 MW blocks. Completed within 12 months after the initial construction began in June 2006, Phase I achieved COD in May 2007. Construction of Phase II began in February 2007, resulting in commercial operation of the second 275 MW block in July 2008. Phase III will bring the final nominal 275 MW block online when completed. At full operation, CBEC will continue to help meet the growing energy needs of Texas while protecting our state's natural environment by displacing less efficient natural gas steam generating facilities in ERCOT.

In the Community
Since the earliest stages of development at CBEC, Navasota Energy has sought to build and maintain a strong relationship with the local community. During the construction period, Navasota Energy and its major contractors provided community service support to local charities.
-
Navasota Energy donated land for a 50 acre park adjacent to the plant, including improvements on the property such as a 20 acre fishing pond, gazebo, and parking.
- Navasota Energy has also sold approximately 12 acres, including improvements and buildings, at below market rates to Wharton County as the maintenance facility for Precinct 1 (the Precinct in which CBEC is located).
- Navasota Energy and its major contractors are invited guest speakers at the local Rotary and Kiwanas, and are invited annually to speak to the local schools and junior college about energy and power related matters.
Maintaining and further developing these strong community relationships on an ongoing basis is a priority for Navasota Energy and its affiliates.
