Quail Run Energy Center

Strategically located near Odessa, Texas (near the Waha natural gas supply basin), Navasota Energy’s Quail Run Energy Center (QREC) is an 825MW natural gas combined-cycle production facility with 550MW currently in full operation. The development and construction of QREC has been carefully staged in nominal 275MW blocks. Completed within 12 months after the initial construction began in June 2006, Phase I achieved COD in May 2007. Construction of Phase II began in April 2007, resulting in commercial operation of the second 275MW block in May 2008. Phase III will bring the final nominal 275MW block online when completed. At full operation, QREC will continue to help meet the growing energy needs of Texas while protecting our state’s natural environment by displacing less efficient natural gas steam generating facilities in ERCOT. Additionally, the facility is well-suited to provide ancillary services to support wind generation, which competitors using 7FA technology are unable to provide.
